Deep dive

What an EICR is, and why a bad one will cost you.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a periodic inspection of the fixed wiring in a property. It tests every circuit, identifies safety risks, and grades each finding from C1 (immediate danger) to C3 (improvement recommended). For UK rentals, an EICR is a legal requirement every five years, and the report must be served on tenants within 28 days.

The problem: there's a wide quality gap between EICR providers. Cheap, rushed inspections often miss high-impedance loops, missing RCDs on socket circuits, or borrowed neutrals, exactly the issues that cause fires and electrocutions. A botched report is also worthless if you ever need to evict (a Section 21 served without a valid EICR can be struck out).

Glacier's EICRs are conducted by NICEIC-grade engineers using calibrated test equipment. Every circuit is dead-tested and live-tested (insulation resistance, earth fault loop, RCD trip times, polarity, continuity), every finding is photographed, and you get a digital report that's accepted by every UK letting agent and council we've encountered.

If we find C1 or C2 issues, you get a fully-quoted remediation plan in the same visit, no upsell, no scaremongering. We can complete the works under the same project, or you're free to use anyone else.
